HCHC Holds 83rd Commencement Ceremony

Hellenic College Holy Cross hosted its 83rd commencement ceremony at the Maliotis Cultural Center on May 17, 2025 where it awarded degrees to undergraduate and graduate students alike. In addition to students and their families, HCHC welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, distinguished members of its Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and many others to the event.

“For our graduates, years of intentional study and hard work culminated in a well-earned degree – one that we believe has prepared them to be contributors to parish ministry or wherever their careers may take them,” said HCHC President Dr. Demetrios S. Katos. “Our alumni are visible members of their communities, as clergy, lay assistants, counselors and in numerous other capacities. They take with them the teachings, love and mentoring of our faculty and staff to their undoubtedly bright futures.”

During the commencement ceremony, honorary degrees were awarded to two esteemed leaders whose contributions have shaped the life of the Church and the mission of the school. Protopresbyter Fr. Alexander Karloutsos will receive an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Holy Cross, while Helen A. Carlos, a longtime trustee and philanthropic leader, will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities from Hellenic College.

“These honorary degrees reflect the school’s gratitude for two individuals whose faith, leadership, and generosity have strengthened the Church and inspired future generations,” said Dr. Katos. “Our students, faculty and staff are blessed to have such role models.”
